kNOw THE RISK COURSE

*This course is now also being delivered online to support distance learning. For those unable to participate in the online classroom, please book by location for small group face-to-face classrooms.
The ‘kNOw the Risk Course’ is a 6 hour program divided over 2 sessions (exactly one week apart), aimed at reducing the likelihood of re-offending with drugs and alcohol.
Eligibility:
You are eligible to attend the kNOw the Risk course only if:
- You have been convicted or found guilty of driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) above 0.08 OR
- it is NOT the first time that you have been convicted or found guilty of a disqualifying offence under the Road Transport (Alcohol and Drugs) Act 1977.
If you do not meet the above criteria, you must attend the ‘Think Ahead Course‘.

A: The course aims to:
It seeks to guide participants to a greater understanding of the circumstances surrounding their offence and to assist them to develop an effective plan and commitment to avoid re-offending in the future.
The program assumes that recidivism can be avoided by providing participants with greater knowledge and understanding of how alcohol and other drugs affect health, decision making and the ability to drive both safely and legally.
It also takes participants through a therapeutic process aimed at behaviour change in favour of safer and healthier choices regarding the use of alcohol and other drugs.
A: The standard course cost is $286.75 (or $200.73 for concession card holders pension or healthcare cards).
We offer payment plans for those with financial hardship and reduced rates are also available for concession card holders.

A: You will need to bring:
- A primary form of identification, such as a drivers licence or passport.
- A pen and something to eat (tea & coffee are provided).
